The best Shopify tracking apps in 2026, honestly compared

The Shopify App Store lists hundreds of tracking apps. Most of them solve the same three or four problems in slightly different ways. Here's the honest take on the nine that actually matter, ranked by which to install in which order.

The free apps you should install first

  1. Shopify Meta channel app. Free. Installs Meta Pixel, enables Conversions API, configures Automatic Advanced Matching. Single biggest win for paid attribution. Install on day one.
  2. Google & YouTube channel app. Free. Installs gtag.js, configures GA4 enhanced ecommerce, sets up Google Ads conversion tracking. Day one install.
  3. Klaviyo. Free for under 250 contacts; tiered after. Installs the onsite snippet, syncs profile properties from Shopify, fires Started Checkout and Placed Order events. Day one install if you use email at all.
  4. Shopify Flow. Free. Powers your post-purchase event automation (order_shipped to Klaviyo, return_initiated triggers, custom branching). Day-one install for any store doing more than 100 orders per month.

The mid-tier paid apps worth evaluating at $1-5M ARR

  1. Analyzify. ~$99/month plus setup fee. Server-side CAPI implementation for Shopify. Right if your team can't implement it yourselves and Meta channel app's defaults aren't enough.
  2. Wetracked. ~$49-$199/month. Newer entrant, focused specifically on Conversions API quality + click-ID stitching. Cheaper than Elevar for similar features.
  3. Conversios. ~$29-$199/month. Multi-pixel manager (Meta + Google + TikTok + Snapchat + Pinterest). Good if you're running ads across 4+ platforms.

The high-end apps for $5M+ ARR

  1. Elevar. $169-$599/month. Full GTM server-side container, identity stitching across devices, CAPI for every major ad platform. Right for paid spend above $50K per month.
  2. Littledata. $179-$599/month. Managed service model with quarterly audits and ongoing tracking-plan maintenance. Right when you'd otherwise hire a fractional analytics team.

Where DataGap fits relative to these

Several of the apps above do offer audits. Elevar has SetupCheckup, Littledata has its tracking audit, Analyzify has a Health Check. They're useful and worth running. The difference is that for each of them the audit is a lead magnet for a paid implementation service. The output is a problem list designed to surface the case for their managed offering.

DataGap is audit-only as the product. $167 one-time, no subscription, no implementation handoff back to us by default. The output is a ranked gap list with copy-paste code snippets, no-code Shopify app recommendations, and the explicit answer to 'do I actually need to subscribe to Littledata or Elevar at my stage'. Often the answer is: install the four free apps, close three specific gaps, and you don't need a paid subscription yet.

Run the free audits from Elevar, Littledata, or Analyzify alongside DataGap if you want a second opinion. The findings should mostly agree; the recommendations will differ because each tool's incentive is to surface gaps that fit its own product.

Frequently asked

Do I need all four free apps?

Meta channel app and Google & YouTube channel app yes. Klaviyo if you do email at all. Shopify Flow if you process more than 100 orders per month.

When does it make sense to pay for a tracking app?

When the four free apps are configured correctly and you still have unresolved tracking gaps that are costing measurable revenue. Run an audit first to know.
